Kids don't understand and young puppies wouldn't either.
'Perhapd that will make you feel less frisky' is pretty toxic too. Does the author do that to children too? The whole 'better off not hearing' the kids. Instead of understanding why the puppy felt the way it felt. The puppy explains feeling frisky and is met with the naughty step where it then watches his brothers and sisters playing outside.
'What is wrong with you today' basically gaslighting the puppy. On a healing journey and this book made me sad.
